Stinky Sneezing Boy’s Problem Caused By BB Pellet in His Head

TEXAS TEEN SUFFERED TEN YEARS OF SINUS MALADIES, ALL FROM A BB PELLET IN HIS HEAD

So can you imagine being 15 years old, and every time you sneeze, a horrible smell hits everyone near you?  Talk about awkward.  But even more than that, the kid had suffered years of horrible congestion and other really strange symptoms.  And by years, we’re talking about a decade.  This kid had an awful time for ten years!  But he finally had enough and went to see doctors in San Antonio, Texas, for help.  But it took another year for them to figure out what the problem was.  A BB pellet stuck in his head!

DOCTORS HAD NO CLUE ABOUT HIDDEN BB PELLET, THOUGHT THE BOY HAD SEVERE ALLERGIES

So at first the doctors only saw that the boy’s turbinates were larger than normal.  Turbinates are pretty narrow structures in your nose that do a lot to regulate air flow.  But most people with turbinates trouble are just suffering allergies.  So at first, the doctors sent him home with antihistamines and the classic steroid nasal spray.  But as you might imagine, those won’t do anything for a hunk of metal stuck in your head.  Doctors told the boy to come back in a month for an update.  But unfortunately the boy didn’t keep that appointment.

A YEAR LATER, DOCTORS GOT A SECOND LOOK AND UNCOVERED BB PELLET MYSTERY VIA SURGERY

But a year later the boy was even more desperate, and came back for help.  His symptoms didn’t get any better, but now if he sneezed or blew his nose a disgusting smell filled the room.  That’s no fun for anyone.  But especially a teenager.  So doctors realized they needed to take a closer look, and took a CT scan of his nose.  Hey, what’s that tiny metal ball there?  They didn’t really have an answer until they performed a surgery to remove it.  Fortunately for the teen, he made a full recovery and all his embarrassing symptoms went away.  As you might guess, this is an unusual BB pellet injury of a youth.
