Baseball’s Bruce Maxwell Refused Service After Kneeling for Anthem

DENIED DINNER SERVICE FOR KNEEING DURING ANTHEM, WAITER MIFFED

Bruce Maxwell, a catcher for the MLB’s  Oakland Athletics  says that a waiter in Alabama refused to serve him because he knelt during the national anthem (Where is Colin Kaepernick when you need him?). In an exclusive interview with The Blot, Maxwell claims he was going out for dinner with a city councilman  and other baseball players when the waiter rudely approached the group and said they would not get served. The group then approached the restaurant management to complain and were given a different server. Although I would have left, who knows what bodily fluids that server might have put in their food.

San Francisco 49ers former quarterback Colin Kaepernick sparked this campaign when he sat down during a preseason game last year. He claimed that he was not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses people of color. Numerous athletes from across various sports have followed in his footsteps, which has drawn the critique of President Donald Trump (but what doesn’t really?) The current 49ers team also knees in support of opposition to basic oppression and human rights.

While Maxwell’s beliefs are not in the minority, it’s an important lesson to learn about standing up for yourself and the consequences that can often times become associated with such a maneuver.

KAEPERNICK AND MAXWELL FRIENDS FROM ACROSS THE BAY, CAN RELATE TO HIS STRUGGLES

Bruce Maxwell had become friends with Kaepernick and said:  “His friendship definitely helps, his guidance comes through that. And just being able to use him as a sounding board some days does me some good.” He continued “Watching Kaepernick go though all that he did, you know, it really gives me strength and a sense of purpose on and off the field.”
