BALTIMORE HS HAZMAT, TERRORIST SCARE CAUSES EVACUATION
No, this has nothing to do with the spice girls. Did you hear the one about the hazmat terror air freshener? Five people went to the hospital due to a hazmat scare. But the scare wasn’t hazardous, it turned out to just be a pumpkin spice air freshener. All of this went down at the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. Was this a case of overkill or over reaction? Or was it simply a misunderstanding based on better safe than sorry? In any event, this Baltimore HS was the scene of some serious drama.
TERROR CAUSED BY PUMPKIN SPICE AIR FRESHENER WORKING TOO WELL
The schools’ website posted that a “strange odor” occurred on its 3rd floor one afternoon at 2:30pm. So evidently it was a new smell that raised fear and then the alarm. “It was a smell that they certainly weren’t used to,” said Bill Heiser, president of the school. “It appeared to be getting stronger.” Well, that must have been a scary scene. And group fear makes it all scarier.
FIVE STUDENTS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL OVER DRAMA
Officials evacuated the High School which caused some real pandemonium. But what wasn’t normal was emergency medical teams treating several people at the scene. That was happening while the Baltimore City Fire Department’s hazmat team went into the building to investigate the strange, scary odor that was the cause of it all. “Five members of our community were transported to area hospitals as a precautionary measure,” the school reported.

MAYBE LET THE AIR STINK, IT IS HIGH SCHOOL
But confusion had a great deal to do with the events. Four students went to the hospital received treatment for nausea. Somehow, the odor made them sick The fifth went for an unrelated problem. But the entire to do was due to a plug-in aerosol air freshener that had a pumpkin spice scent. So be careful out there (or in there, as the case may be). You never know what’s really a threat until you really know.
