BALENCIAGA TROLLS THE RICH AGAIN WITH EXPENSIVE SACK THAT LOOKS LIKE GARBAGE BAG
Oy vey! Balenciaga is continuing their amazing, appalling product releases that are literally designed garbage. And while that should be silly hyperbole, it’s pretty much an accurate description. You may already be familiar with the brand from some of their other crazy priced, ridiculous “limited” releases. But this one pushes the hobo-themed envelope just a bit further. As you can see in the picture, there is a fancy (ahem) garbage bag that literally no one could find fashionable. And that sack will set you back a cool $1,800. And yes, that is almost 2 grand to carry around what looks exactly like a bag you put your garbage in.

NO, IT’S NOT REALLY A GARBAGE BAG, BUT THE HOBO LOOK IS CLARLY IN WITH THE RICH
So ok, to be fair, it’s not actually a garbage bag. It’s a luxury item, made out of calfskin leather and including a subtle logo. If you want to invest in one, you have the option of black, white, yellow or blue. And yes, that means you can have a luxury, draw-string not garbage like bag that looks like your favorite off the shelf brand. And, to be fair, maybe it’s not a garbage plastic container that is a bag. Maybe you want your high-fashion hobo accessory to really be presumed to be a recycling sack. Appearances do matter!

ONE MAN’S GARBAGE BAG IS A RICH MAN’S FANCY BAG, ACCORDING TO BALENCIAGA
I’m guessing there must be more of a market for this than the theoretical, literal hobo who won the lottery but wants to stay connected to their roots. Because Balenciaga keeps making these crazy, garbage looking luxury items. Either it’s a way to get us to talk about them (success!), or people really do buy these product lines. I’m going to assume that it’s both. After all, people who never have to think about making their rent tend to have spending priorities that lack any…. Priorities. When everything is a novelty, everything is personal art. And this drawstring not a garbage bag would seem to qualify!
If you enjoy spending money on things like this instead of lobbying to break unions, you can find it in stores this fall.
