OLD DUFFERS GO OLD TESTAMENT OVER PATCH OF LAWN
Ok. Wtf? I assumed this had to be a story from Florida. But it’s from Australia. A week ago a residential neighborhood in Port Macquarie was enjoying a nice, quiet Saturday morning. But that rapidly turned into something else after a neighborly dispute turned violent and one elderly man ended up hospitalized with pretty serious injuries. A long dispute between two Australian neighbors over a patch of lawn got heated and violent. How violent? Well, the 72-year-old man and the 81-year-old man got into it with a large knife and a lawn mower. These duffers really got into it.
FIGHT INVOLVED KNIFE AND A LAWN MOWER
Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Crestwood Drive in Port Macquarie at roughly 9:30 am local time on Saturday, February 24. They had been notified that two men were fighting at that address. But when the officers arrived, they discovered a grisly scene with an octogenarian with serious injuries to his left hand, forearm and left inner thigh. Details are still unclear, but the two duffers used a large knife and a lawn mower in their fight with each other.

Medics gave the injured man treatment on the scene and then took him to Port Macquerie Hospital. But the serious injuries needed more, so the man was later flown to John Hunter Hospital by NSW Air Ambulance. That seems pretty scary. A NSW Air Ambulance official said that the man had lost fingers, plural, on his left hand. We still don’t know how the injuries occurred. Did the man lose his fingers from the knife? Or did they get chopped up by the lawn mower?
RELATIVES LOOK ON IN SHOCK AT GRISLY, ELDERLY VIOLENCE
Police took the 72-year-old man to Port Macquarie Police Station where he is “assisting” them with their investigation. Authorities cornered off the property as part of their investigation. But onlookers reported that the women left the property comforting each other. Other nearby neighbors has expressed their shock and horror at the news of the incident on social media. But they just can’t believe the two elderly men could have had such a devastating fight over a patch of lawn.
