AS ANDOR ENDS IN SEASON 2, IT TAKES THE TOP SPOT FOR STREAMING MINUTES
I’ve gotta say that I’m a pretty big fan of the Disney show, Andor. If you haven’t watched it, you really should take a look, if not a deep dive. If you’re a political news junkie, you’ve already seen articles talking about the show’s (many) subtexts that relate to today’s social and political scene in the United States. Well, and in every other country that’s taking an authoritarian xenophobic lurch that’s only accelerated this year. And you also know that No Kings supporters have found some major solidarity with the show, as well. So it’s not too surprising to learn that it’s the number one show this month, in terms of streaming minutes.

FORMER #1 BLUEY LIKELY TO TAKE TOP SPOT AGAIN NEXT MONTH, AFTER ANDOR FINALE
The former #1 and current #2 (and likely #1 again next month) is the Australian show, Bluey, which I know absolutely nothing about. But this month, Andor racked up 931 million minutes of time viewed, with Bluey coming in at 922 million. Other notable streaming shows at the top include Grey’s Anatomy and The Last of Us. I’ve at least heard of those but haven’t watched them yet. And I have to say that the scale of minutes watched it pretty astounding when you think about it. Those are a lot of minutes. Yet Andor being at the top doesn’t surprise me at all, considering how amazing the show is.

ANDOR IS AN AMAZING SHOW, AND ONLY HAPPENS TO BE A STAR WARS STORYLINE
I tried selling my parents on it, who are octogenarians and well-versed in the Star Wars mythos. Like many older people, they reflexively balk at a TV show series based on movies they enjoyed. But I told them that it’s really just a very smart sci-fi series about politics in dangerous times, and only happens to be a Star Wars story. Here’s some Stellan Skarsgård to whet your interest. I haven’t finished season 2 of Andor yet. But I’ve seen headlines of reviews I’ve avoided (filled with spoilers) that make me eager to watch the last couple episodes. After all, season 2 is the end of Andor, which isn’t too surprising as it cost Disney $650 million dollars in production.
Money well spent, I say! Now, I have to decide if I want to check out Bluey, too.
