AMAZON GETS TAX CUT, STILL SET TO BRICK OVER 2 MILLION KINDLES NEXT MONTH
It’s getting easier and easier to hate retail corporate giants with every passing minute, and Amazon is the gift that keeps on taking my peace of mind. It’s like the black hole that sucks all of our money into it, with an increasing pace of gravitational market footprint. And speaking of footprints, let’s talk about the Amazon Kindle, a now old benchmark that heralded the dawn of virtual reading for many. And what is there to talk about? Oh, I don’t know. How about how Amazon is about to turn over 2 million of older Kindle devices into bricks? Because yes, that’s happening. Soon. Like, next month. Your old Kindle will be nothing more than a brick.
IF YOU HAVE AN OLD KINDLE, YOU’RE LOSING SUPPORT AND CAN’T ADD ANYTHING NEW, EVER

2+ MILLION KINDLES BECOMING PAPERWEIGHTS TRANSLATES INTO 624 TONS OF E-WASTE
That sure sounds like a lot of devices, right? All of those old Kindles will be blocked from any new purchases, borrowed titles or even any fresh downloads of content you already own. But here’s the thing: all those 2+ million Kindles still work. They’re entirely functional for the people who still have and use them. There’s no reason to brick them, not even security wise. This will render useless 3% of the entire e-reader market into nothing more than garbage. A LOT of garbage, to the tune of over 624 tons of e-waste. It’s enough to write a book about! But a book you’ll never be able to read on any of these old Kindles.
And let’s remember, this comes with the backdrop of Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill lowering Amazon’s taxes by 87% this year, and Amazon just laid off 30,000 workers.
